Lit Vertex Colour VR Shader - Maya - (Quill, AnimVR, Tilt Brush...)
Virtual Paintings (made in VR with software like Quill, AnimVR/ Tilt Brush,Medium …) are usually exported with vertex colours on each stroke. A problem for common 3d software’s based on rendered lighting. You will notice the crappy mesh. This shader mimics light and uses the vertex colors correctly.
What you get:
• At the moment the shader is working with 1 point-light and 2 spot-lights.
• Once you understand how the shader is done you easily can add more point or spot lights by duplicating the respective nodes in the hypershader. (checkout includet tutorial video)
• Adjustable paint effects outline in the opacity channel to give it the look of a painting.
• Supports animVR and Quill transparency channels!
• No textures or UV’s required.
• Supports Redshift fog and depth of field.
• The vertex color information is taken through a rsVertexColor node. ( This value differs from VR software to VR software. Checkout the included note file.)
What you need:
• Maya 2018 or up. (maybe also working with earlier versions, but not tested)
• Redshift renderer (with a bit knowledge it is transferable to other renderers, like Arnold or mental ray)
